OBX Windsurfing was created by pro windsurfer Mike Burns.  Windsurfing has been Mike's passion for over 1/2 his life.  He started teaching windsurfing in New York  at 19 years old and has enjoyed the thrill of getting people into the sport for nearly 30 years.  Mike has run windsurf schools, run clinics and organizes events like the largest windsurfing event in the western hemisphere called OBX-WIND right here on the Outer Banks.   Mike was even recently voted "AWSI 2023 North American Windsurfer of the Year" among his peers in the industry.   

    OBX Windsurfing is powered by North America's top windsurfing brand, Severne Windsurfing.  Together, Mike Severne and our incredible network of Severne Windsurfing dealers across North America are determined to make windsurfing as accessible and user friendly as possible.  Since Cape Hatteras and the Outer Banks are the perfect place to learn new windsurfing skills, Mike and Severne have teamed up to help get new windsurfers on the water using the best gear available in the best conditions possible to progress.
